Sri Lanka’s well known cultural Triangle represents the rich cultural heritage and the history ,with valuable ancient cities, monuments and Buddhist temples, dating back to 3^rd Century BC. The points of the triangle consists of the first Sinhalese capital Anuradhapura, Hill capital of Kandy and the medieval capital of Polonnaruwa. Within the triangle, the spectacular Dambulla Cave temple, magnificent Sigiriya Fortress, Mihinthale, Aukana (rock carved standing Buddha statue) , Monastry of Ritigala, Yapahuwa and Aluvihara. Also Matale is where the country’s main spice growing area is located and the nearby magnificent Knuckels mountain range has beautiful valleys, forests, rivers and waterfalls. A must for people who love hiking. Nonetheless there are two wildlife reserves Minneriya and Kaudulla where you can see Elephants as well as other rare species of wildlife.
